Hi Tom,
I tried to set this up, but I get an error saying that "This patch package could not be opened. Contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package". From my research, they suggest we run an msi cleanup tool, then reinstall Office. Have you run into this at all?
Regards,
Betty

Hi Tom,

Nice post - thanks for the information.

However I am perplexed as to why Microsoft bothered to go to all the effort to put this update system in place when in reality it is completely useless. The people who would benefit from it (large companies with large OCS rollouts) do not grant admin rights to their end users.

It just seems so strange to me that Microsoft went to all that effort to code this whole system and it is almost of no use to anyone.

Cheers,
David
